Wallace Fire & Rescue

Burn Permit Information

Nebraska has a statewide year-around open burning ban. A permit must be obtained from your local fire chief or designated representative before any open burning can occur. A structure burn permit is required from the Fire Marshal's office before burning any building. This permit will only be issued for training purposes only.

Wallace has a burn ban for most of the year. You must obtain a State Approved burn permit from the fire chief or a designated representative. You may burn on the following dates only, third weekend in April, first and third weekends in May, second weekend in June, and first and third weekends in September and October. You must burn only on your property and not in the alley or in the street. You must insure your burn site is 30 feet from any building, utilities (poles, boxes, ext.) or fuel storage. The wind should not exceed 15 MPH. The Village Board of Trustees has agreed to the above to allow you to more easily dispose of yard waste; however, it does not permit you to burn trash of any kind or to burn large limbs which still need to be taken to the burn pit. Failure to comply with any of the above will considered a violation of this permit and no further burn permits will be issued to you.

To obtain a burn permit, a form must be filled out with name, address and what will be burned. The applicant must sign the permit, which is good for the entire burn period.
